Dispelling the Myths

Prefab ramps or poured in place concrete? Many Cities and Towns struggle with this question. Here are some of the common misconceptions about Prefab vs. Concrete;

Prefab is cheaper - Actually, a well-designed concrete park is incredibly affordable and can be implemented in your Town for under $15 per square foot. Where an existing slab, tennis court or parking area is used costs can go below $10 per square foot.

We already have a site that is paved so we can save money by using Prefab - It is a myth that prefab can save money in any instance, let lone when you have an existing slab. Our EPS foam and concrete method of construction can be implemented on any existing slab in a matter of days and has been proven over 35 years to be a stable and cost-effective method of construction. Who Skates is a fully self-contained concrete specialist and with our extreme efficiency and experience prefab doesn’t come close!

Prefab has a warranty and concrete doesn’t - Concrete has a warranty if a reputable company provides construction services. Who Skates offers comprehensive packages for up to 10 years with no fine print but will also honor the warranty of ANY prefab vendor.

Concrete is permanent and if the sport changes we are stuck with the park - A well - thought out Skatepark designed by Who Skates will not go out of style, period. Further, your skaters are already telling you what they want in a park... they want the same obstacles they skate downtown!!

Concrete cannot be repaired - WRONG! In the event of damage or vandalism repairs are VERY easily facilitated by local contractors in a timely and cost-effective manner. Repairs to prefab ramps require specialty products and tradesmen.

The Newspaper reads - “the kids are skating Downtown and getting in trouble. This Skatepark will give them a place to go” - The kids are skating downtown because the stairs, ledges, rails and gaps are what they want to skate!! If your Skatepark doesn’t look like Downtown then it isn’t a Skatepark they will want to skate.

Concrete Skatepark Companies only build huge pools and bowls - Not all... Who Skates builds skateparks, period. Sure, we build pools and bowls but our staff is also comprised of some of the best street skaters you can imagine. Our passion for all types of skating puts us in a league all our own.

Prefab will get the kids skating more quickly - Wrong... Who Skates can build a 5,000 square foot park in only 15 days from soccer field or tennis court to opening session!

Please take the time to see what it is about a concrete park that makes it a true destination spot worthy of the years of fundraising and council meetings. Reward your skaters with a Skatepark that makes them want to skate!!
